Quite a few vendors were mentioned in today's video. Most notably +Arduino and +Adafruit Industries. The latter is especially a great resource for anyone wanting to start experimenting with #opensourcehardware. It is a distributor and an education forum, currently selling an +Arduino starter kit for $60 and additional "shields" for as little as $20. The founder of +Adafruit Industries is +Limor Fried (aka Ladyada) who started the company in 2005, after receiving her master degree from MIT. She became famous in the popular press two years ago when offering a $2,000 bounty to anyone who could hack the Kinect controller for XBox 360. When Microsoft condemned the challenge as a violation of copyright, she defiantly raised the ante to $3,000.
