Editor Note - This is a weekly hangcast (podcast using Google Plus Hangout) organized by Man'ority Report.
A very successful first show today. Our special guest is +Dwayne Jones who is a self-taught technologist and small business owner (One Card Technologies). He gave a run down on NFC (Near Field Communication) technology which is basically RFID 2.0, making it a two-way device. All high-end Android phones now have NFC and soon, iPhones will have it too. NFC is important to entrepreneurs because it will open up business opportunities. Until now the only way to build peripherals for smart phones is through the proprietary connector, which has not been satisfactory to consumers. New product ideas include parking location reminder, drug dispenser, dog tags, and so on. The possibilities are limitless and well beyond e-payment.
For readers of LoveMyTool.com and our various sponsors who are tool vendors, NFC has the potential of providing physical access control to network access control (see comments by +Mark Townsend, formerly with Enterasys Networks, at 29:00).
